Is backlinking still relevant?

Is backlinking still relevant?

Is backlinking still relevant?

Backlinks are still important for SEO success as they serve as the basis for the original Google PageRank algorithm. Many independent studies in the SEO industry have shown how backlinks affect organic search performance.

Backlinks are very important for SEO because they serve as a “sign of trust” from one website to another. Basically, search engines use backlinks as guarantee that other websites will trust your content when they link to your website. When multiple websites link to the same web page or domain, search engines may conclude that the information makes sense and should show up in the SERPs. Therefore, the ranking or visibility of the website can be increased by getting these links. The case for how many backlinks to do in a month is a debate but, here is why they are still in vogue and relevant.

1. Effective Sites Perform Better in SEO

One thing is consistent throughout all Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs):

Google and other search engines adore authority websites. In this context, “authority” is defined as having a significant number of links from reliable websites. And there is a wealth of evidence that backs up this claim. Your website will perform better and rank higher in search results the stronger it is. You now understand the point. According to the data, you must work really hard to increase the number of links pointing to your website. You increase your website’s authority in this way.

But in order for the actual pages you want to rank on search engines like Google, you must also gain website links to them.

2. Vote for Your Webpage (Backlink) Diversity

You should endeavour to obtain links from numerous reliable websites in your sector. This makes perfect sense if we view links as equivalent to votes. The value of numerous votes (backlinks) from several sources exceeds that of many votes from a single source.

It’s difficult to quantify, but obtaining links from the same domain is probably going to have decreasing returns. Would receiving many connections from The Washington Post hurt anything right now? No way. If you had the option of selecting one link from fifteen distinct DR 20 blogs in your business or two links from The Washington Post. Ideally you should spread it out. You can link up with those sites having DR/DA 75+ say one or two, maybe 4-5 sites having DR/DA 50+ and more than 20 with sites of DR/DA 20+.

3. More backlinks resulting from better SEO performance

In SEO, the wealthy become richer. In other words, you’ll get more links the higher your SEO performance. “The Snowball Effect” is what I call this.

Pages that rank at the top do typically gain more backlinks (and do so more quickly) than those that rank below them. In other words, you’ll begin to obtain organic links once you reach high positions. As a result, your page gets stronger and frequently helps you to establish your positions. Remember that competitive keywords are the exception to this rule. More inbound links are insufficient to keep up rankings in competitive SERPs. Also, you need to maintain your page fresh and updated.

For instance, a strong page with outdated content is unlikely to keep its rankings.

In other words, avoid becoming smug or complacent once you start ranking.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, yes, backlinks are still very much relevant and are a key driving force when it comes to SEO. It is a very important tactic when it comes to having an off-page strategy. If you want to do well for your website with an off-page strategy that has backlinking in your list of tactics, it would be best to get a managed SEO provider that can guide you too.
