To backup a single partition to an image file
1. Choose Create images and then Partition
to Image.
|
| |
|
| |
2. The pop-up window shows the available local
hard disk(s). Choose the source disk containing
the partition that you would like to backup and
then click on Next.

3. The next window shows the available partition(s)
on the source disk. Choose the source partition
that you would like to backup and then click on
Next.

4. You will then be prompted to select the target
drive to save the image file to. The target drive
can be a different partition on the source disk
or a partition on another local disk or a mapped
drive of a network share. The target drive on the
local machine needs to be in FAT16 or FAT32 format.
To save the image file into a network share, you
need to first map the network share as a virtual
drive. See Appendix for more information about map
a network share for AYGHOST.

5. You will then need to provide a name for the
image file. You might also choose to compress the
image file. Compression will add extended time to
the backup process. It’s only recommended
if you have limited space on the target drive. Compression
can reduce the image size up to 50%. You can also
set the image file size limit. For example, for
a 2 GB system, you might restrict the image file
size to 600 MB. AYGHOST will create several 600
MB image files rather than one single 2 GB image
file. So you can archive those 600 MB image files
to CDs.
